We really enjoyed our 7 day stay at the lovely Castelo Santa Catarina! We were in the room on top of the building from where we had a 360 degree view, could see the sun come up and go down and on clear days could see the ocean in the distance. Everything in the old part of the Castelo looks like a folklore museum or a hundreds of years old castle but at the same time with the comfort of a renovated bathroom and modern heating. Absolutely loved it. There’s no elevator inside the building (only to get from parking to reception) but we were offered that they carried our luggage to the 4th floor. There was an issue with our toilet but they immediately sent a technician. Generally, they are taking very good care of the building, daily housekeeping is excellent and all staff is very nice. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Even though the hotel was mostly booked out we found parking the 3 times we used the car. Definitely a unique place to stay! Recommended!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The couple of restaurants recommended by staff that we went to were great. Thoughtful touches like leaving umbrellas outside the rooms on rainy days exemplified the overall attention to details and guest comfort. They also kindly accommodated an early check-in which was greatly appreciated after a red-eye flight. Our arrival was very easy by public transit from the airport and a quick 5-minute walk from the station closest to the hotel. We were also happily surprised to receive a room upgrade. We stayed in the newer addition overlooking the gardens. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The delicious breakfast was enjoyed in the charming historic castelo building. We didn't have a chance to visit the bar and the weather was a bit too cool to enjoy sitting in the garden for an afternoon drink but both looked pleasant.

What a fantastic hotel! From the road you cannot possibly imagine what lies beyond its gates. there are several gardens, a bar as well as other facilities. The main attraction was the Tower itself, spectacular!!! The staff were so helpful and friendly, they were a delight. It's not too far ro walk down to the city centre from where you can visit many interesting places. The hotel room we stayed in was the Grande Suite in the Castle Tower, it had a balcony and terrace of a fantastic size with great views. The buffet breakfast was delightful and we discovered the on-site bar not offers a 'happy hour' between 5pm and 7pm where we experienced our first Port & Tonic cocktail which was a revelation, but also hot food upto 10pm.

We were fortunate to get the best room in the hotel with a large terrace, which was very important to my wife. The terrace overlooks the city and includes table/chairs and lounge seats. The gardens are beautiful on the property and make for excellent photos. The breakfast was very good with great service. We had some laundry done on the property and the results were excellent with everything ironed and folded professionally. Management also treated my wife and I to some bottle of Port as it was our anniversary. There is parking on the property. There is also very good security to enter exist the property. We felt very safe as the hotel is in the tourist area with lots of shopping and places to go.

Incredible place! You get the unique experience of staying in a real castle right in the heart of Porto. While it's a bit further from downtown compared to other hotels, it’s totally worth it. It only takes around 10-15 minutes to reach the city center, so the location is still very convenient. The castle itself is stunning—antique yet well-maintained, without the musty smell that you often find in older hotels. The upper-floor rooms offer breathtaking views of the city. The staff were extremely professional and provided tons of great advice on what to see in Porto. This hotel contributed a great portion to the amazing mood and experience of exploring Porto. One of the best stays I’ve had!
